We recently added Workspaces to Balsio and opened up our API and MCP support. Today we’re bringing the two together: your AI agents can now set up and manage Workspaces for you.
Anything you can do with a Workspace in the Balsio app, an AI agent or integration can now do too. That works through our API or MCP, the standard way assistants like Claude and ChatGPT connect to apps.
What agents can do
🏗️ Set up Workspaces. Create a new Workspace, name it and give it an icon.
👥 Manage the team. Invite people by email, remove members and choose who’s an admin.
🔗 Control access. Turn the Workspace’s join link on or off.
🗂️ Organise conversations. Move chats into a Workspace and decide whether each one is public or private.
So you can just tell your assistant:
💬 “Create a Workspace for the Acme rebrand, invite anna@acme.com and jonas@ourteam.com, make Jonas an admin, and move our ‘Acme kickoff’ chat in as a private conversation.”
And it’s done. It works the same on every device.

Safe by design
Agents in Balsio work for you. They don’t get any extra powers:
✋ They always ask first before inviting anyone to a Workspace.
🔒 They can never do more than you can. An agent only acts with the permissions of the person it works for.
Why this matters
Most work chat tools treat bots as add-ons.
In Slack, for example, a bot can create channels and invite people to them on any plan. But managing a workspace’s members and roles through Slack’s API needs a paid Business+ or Enterprise plan and an admin’s personal access, not a bot. Creating workspaces or switching a channel between public and private is Enterprise-only. Slack’s own AI connector can search, send messages, create channels and work with files, but it can’t invite people or manage members.
In Balsio, agents work like real team members. They can set up a project space, bring the team in and keep the conversations organised. This works on every plan, with no enterprise paywall.
Build your own
Developers can build bots that manage Workspaces on their own, for example:
👋 An onboarding bot that adds a new hire to the right Workspace and chats as soon as they’re marked as hired in your HR tool
🤝 A client project bot that sets up a new Workspace whenever a deal is closed in your CRM, with the account team invited
🚪 An offboarding check that removes people from Workspaces when they leave the company

Getting started
Connect Balsio to your AI assistant through MCP, or create an API key in Balsio.
Ask your assistant to set up a Workspace, or start building with the API.
Tell us what you build. We’d love to hear from you! 😊
Productively yours,
Team Balsio
